My Idea Of A Good Music Video




The reason I choose this music video is because straightaway you are aware that there is a clear story line in this music video and continuous movement keeping the audience engaged, the editing is used really creatively and has jump cuts matching the tempo of the song throughout, the camera constantly follows the lead artist of the moment keeping the audience attention. There are roughly 6-7 costume changes however there is no clear difference with regards to costume between verse and chorus, however through editing the tempo of the edits slows down for the chorus as the rhythm of the song changes. Various camera shots are used such as; close ups, long shots, mid shots and wide shots however there is rarely any dismembering of the body parts, but the camera is used as male gaze with the angle of the shot's e.g when Nicki Minaj has her legs open we have a low angled shot making it clear what we should be watching. With regards to costume the woman have be purposely styled to appeal to the male gaze for example bikini's, tight fitting clothing and clothing which reveal the artists cleavage area.  As an overall this music video appeals to me as a good music video as there are various edits and special effects, use of bright colours and contrast and also regular costume changes.
